InfoCision Stadium–Summa Field — a modern stadium for American football located at the University of Akron, Ohio. It is the home field for the Akron Zips football team and opened on September 12, 2009. The team played its first game at this stadium against Morgan State Bears, drawing a full house.
This stadium was built to replace the Rubber Bowl — the former home field of the team, located six miles from the university. The construction of the stadium was part of the Akron University's large-scale project called "A New Landscape for Learning," with a total cost of $300 million. The project included not only the stadium construction but also the renovation of other facilities on campus. The stadium's capacity is 27,000 spectators, with an additional 3,000 people able to be accommodated on the grassy hill on the south side of the field. The seven-tier press tower includes media spaces, academic areas, luxury seat zones, and sports medical facilities. The stadium also features a large video screen measuring 39 by 22 feet and a fan shop.
Despite its modern infrastructure, the stadium faced attendance challenges, especially during the 2014–2015 season, which recorded one of the lowest attendance levels in NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision history. However, InfoCision Stadium remains a key facility of the University of Akron, providing both sports and educational benefits for students and local residents.
