Most likely, you will have to cover up during your next Spirit Airlines flight from Detroit if you are wearing clothing or have tattoos that are disliked by airline staff.
The budget airline has updated its transportation policy, clarifying the types of clothing and tattoos that may be prohibited onboard.
According to the agreement dated January 22, 2025: "A guest may not be allowed to board the aircraft or may be required to leave the aircraft if they are barefoot or dressed inappropriately (for example, in transparent clothing; insufficiently covered; with exposed breasts, buttocks, or other intimate parts), or if their clothing or item, including tattoos, has a provocative, indecent, or offensive nature."
In October 2024, two women from California were removed from a Spirit Airlines flight for wearing crop tops. At that time, the airline told USA TODAY: "The transportation agreement - a document agreed upon by all guests when booking tickets - includes certain standards of dress for all guests traveling with us."
Previously, the agreement stated that passengers could be denied boarding or asked to leave the plane. However, it did not provide specific examples.
